I know what you are thinking – why do I need a system to remind me about birthdays and anniversaries when I have Facebook or LinkedIn doing the job for me. But, here is the thing. Not everyone is on social media and you may have a bout of abstinence from social media and end up disappointing your friends by not wishing them on their joyful days! So, it pays to have your own failsafe system of reminders on birthdays and anniversaries.
It’s a straight forward affair, but here are few specifics:
- Create a new calendar so that you don’t clutter your business calendar with these. All leading Calendar Apps give this feature.
- All these events would be day-specific (All Day event).
- You would set a recurrence of a year for these events so that you are perpetually taken care of.
- Don’t create work for yourself by trying to add all entries in one seating. Keep a ritual of adding an event as an when you know about it. With little investment of time at each instance, you will soon build a sizeable “asset” for yourself.
- Last but not least, don’t forget to write the year of birth/marriage/foundation/joining also, if you come to know so that you could be specific on certain milestones. “Best wishes on 25 years of your marriage” is always better than bland “Happy marriage anniversary”!
